Scammers set a new trap in vehicle sales: Man finds his own car in a fake listing
A citizen in Sinop who wanted to sell his car online was shocked to discover that someone else had created a fake listing for his vehicle at a much lower price using his car's information. The citizen warned others, pointing out that this method could lead to people being defrauded.

Hasan Güney, who lives in Sinop, posted an advertisement on a popular website to sell his second-hand car. A person who called the seller expressed interest in buying the vehicle and requested additional photos. Güney sent the images to this person who wanted to inspect the car.
A short time later, thanks to a friend's warning, Hasan Güney encountered an unpleasant surprise. He discovered a fake listing published by someone else using his car's photos and all the information from his original ad. Moreover, the listing was looking for a new owner at a price approximately 200 thousand liras below market value.
Güney, who immediately made the necessary reports, could not hide his astonishment: "I went in and looked, it really is my car. An unknown name is selling my car cheaper than I am. I immediately filed a complaint," he stated.
It is alleged that scammers use this method to deceive buyers by listing vehicles at attractive prices and collecting deposits. It is emphasized that the low prices in fake listings push interested parties to act quickly, making them easy targets for the trap.
Hasan Güney stated that he warned those around him after this distressing incident and called on citizens to be careful. Güney also shared his concern, saying, "I've been thinking about it since last night; I wonder how many people they scammed? I hope no one fell for it. I would never want such victimization to be caused through me. From the moment I first heard about it, I informed those around me and reported the listings."
Güney expressed that authorities should implement stricter sanctions against such fraud and added: "There need to be heavy penalties."
The importance of citizens verifying the identities of listing owners and documents related to the vehicle during online car sales has once again come to light. To avoid being victimized by fake listings, it is necessary to be cautious and report suspicious situations to the authorities immediately.
