Scandal with 'light' breads! They misled the consumer: Contains 193 calories instead of 40

The Ministry of Trade has launched an investigation into packaged breads labeled 'light'. Inspections revealed that while the back of the package stated 40 calories, the breads actually contained 193 calories. Expressing his outrage at the situation, Consumer Confederation President Aydın Ağaoğlu reacted by saying, "They have even reached for the consumer's bread," while the ministry imposed a fine on the bread company.

The Ministry of Trade imposed an 86 thousand 358 Turkish Lira fine on the bread company whose product, sold in markets as 'light bread' and required to contain no more than 40 calories per 100 grams, was found to contain 193 calories per 100 grams in laboratory tests, and advertisements for the product were also halted. According to the report by Sabah, the bread in question is Untad Form Light Bread.

THEY HAVE EVEN REACHED FOR THE CONSUMER'S BREAD

Consumer Confederation President Aydın Ağaoğlu stated, "They have even reached for the consumer's bread. That was the only thing left," and added, "It has been understood that the breads on the market sold as 'light bread' are not light and are actually misleading the consumer, so the company has been subject to a fine. Consumers should be careful."

Ağaoğlu said, "There are deceptive advertisements on the packaging and in commercials claiming that you can lose weight by eating bread. There are serious penalties for those who deceive consumers by calling products organic, whole wheat, or light," he said.
