Scandalous detail about the principal and vice-principal in the Kahramanmaraş school attack! Investigation permission requested...

The Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has applied to the Kahramanmaraş Governor's Office for permission to investigate four educators as part of the process regarding the armed attack that took place on April 15 at Ayser Çalık Secondary School in Onikişubat.

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's request was prepared concerning school principal C.K., vice-principal F.B., teacher A.T., and guidance counselor E.İ. In the assessment regarding the principal and vice-principal, it was stated that according to security camera footage, they were determined to have exited the school building and abandoned the school after hearing gunshots during the attack.

The Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation into C.K. and F.B. for the crimes of "abandonment of duty and failure to report a crime." Permission for the investigation was requested from the Governor's Office under Law No. 4483, which regulates the trial procedure for public officials.

ALLEGATION OF FAILURE TO REPORT FOR GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

According to information entered into the file, the Ministry of National Education Board of Inspectors issued a report on teacher A.T. in documents sent to the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on August 18, 2026, on the grounds that he also abandoned the school during the incident.

Regarding guidance counselor E.İ., an allegation was raised that no report was made before the attack concerning the 8th-grade student I.A.M., who was identified as the perpetrator. The Board of Inspectors' referral report included the justification that no notification was made to the General Directorate of Child Services in accordance with Article 6 of the Child Protection Law, based on the assessment that the student was a "child in need of protection."

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office assessed that the actions in question fall within the scope of "official misconduct" and stated that a preliminary investigation should be conducted and a decision should be taken to grant permission for the investigation regarding the individuals concerned.

In the attack carried out at Ayser Çalık Secondary School on April 15, teacher Ayla Kara and 9 students lost their lives, and 15 students were injured. In the first hearing of the case held at the Kahramanmaraş 3rd High Criminal Court on September 4, the guidance counselor E.İ., for whom investigation permission was requested, was heard as a "witness."

Furkan Mehmet Cinkara, one of the lawyers for the victimized students' families, objected to this testimony during the hearing, arguing that it was procedurally improper for E.İ. to be heard as a witness and under oath due to the allegations of responsibility against him in the file.

It was stated that the steps to be taken by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the criminal complaint filed by Cinkara concerning public officials whom he alleges were negligent within the Ministry of National Education, police, and health institutions are also being monitored.
