Despite all the reactions from the sports community, the Turkish Football Federation decided to hold the Super Cup final between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

Hours before the critical match, Saudi authorities did not allow the teams to take the field with Atatürk banners and t-shirts. At the same time, fans who arrived at the stadium wearing Atatürk jerseys were also not allowed in.

Following Saudi Arabia's scandalous stance, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray decided not to play the match. In the late hours of the night, it was announced in a joint statement by the TFF, Fenerbahçe, and Galatasaray that the match had been postponed.
