In Hatay, a driver named Emre Akgül was stunned by what he encountered while driving in traffic.

The driver did not allow a vehicle that was honking and demanding the right of way to pass. The people to whom the young driver did not yield turned out to be plainclothes police officers.

The plainclothes officer shouted at the citizen who did not yield to him, saying, "Move to the right, you idiot, you don't cut off a police officer like that."

DREW A GUN AND RAN AFTER THE VEHICLE

The plainclothes officers, hurling threats, drew their guns and forced the young driver out of his car. The stunned driver said, "What did I do to deserve a traffic ticket? If I had known you were police, I would have yielded anyway."

"HE DIDN'T YIELD, SO WE'RE GIVING HIM HIS DUE"

The plainclothes officer insulted him, saying, "I'm telling you, son, what you did. I'm telling you I'm a police officer, yield. You're asking who I am. There's no such world. We're dealing with an idiot. He didn't yield, so we're giving him his due."

Those moments were captured on the driver's dashcam.

CITIZEN FILED A COMPLAINT, INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO THE POLICE OFFICER

According to İHA, following the incident, Akgül filed a complaint against the police officer who engaged in actions that endangered traffic. It was learned that judicial and administrative proceedings have been initiated upon the complaint.

Explaining what happened between him and the police officer, Emre Akgül said, "While I was driving in my own lane in traffic, the other party made a move toward my front without a license plate or turn signal. In response, I just honked my horn. Then they stopped and wanted to argue with me, saying 'what's the problem, what's the problem.' I continued, stating that I would not yield. I had no idea they were police; there were no signs indicating they were police. If I had known they were police, I would have yielded in the first place.

When his friend drew a gun and ran after me because of the argument, I wasn't actually running away from the police; I was running toward the police teams I saw up ahead. When the guy came and said he was a police officer, I tried to explain my situation in the shock of the moment. I have made the necessary applications to the relevant authorities. I hope justice is served. The incident is entirely personal; it is not a situation that reflects on all police officers," he said.
