School police officer attacked by minors: Warning shot hits barber

In Istanbul's Kağıthane district, a police officer who warned a group of youths smoking and using profanity in a park across from a school was subjected to a violent attack. During the incident, the officer opened fire as a warning while pursuing the fleeing suspects, accidentally wounding a barber on the sidewalk. The wounded barber remains in critical condition.

The incident occurred yesterday around 15:00 in a park across from a school in the Hamidiye neighborhood. School police officer H.Ç. warned a group of youths who were smoking and speaking loudly with profanity in the park. Angered by the warning, three suspects attacked the police officer, breaking his nose. Following this, the officer began to pursue the fleeing suspects.

POLICE WARNING SHOT HITS BARBER

The police officer shouted "Stop" and fired warning shots at the fleeing suspects. However, during this time, 48-year-old barber Hakan B., who was on the sidewalk, was struck in the chest by the gunfire. Some of the bullets also hit a light commercial vehicle parked nearby. Upon notification by bystanders, medical and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

CRITICALLY WOUNDED BARBER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

After receiving initial treatment at the scene, the barber, Hakan B., was taken by ambulance to Seyrantepe Hamidiye Training and Research Hospital. It was learned that Hakan B.'s condition remains critical. Following the incident, hospital and local security units implemented extensive security measures.

SUSPECTS APPREHENDED IN SHORT ORDER

Police apprehended and detained the three suspects who fled the scene shortly after the incident. The suspects were identified as M.S.P. (16), S.K.G. (16), and H.B. (16). Investigations revealed that the suspects had no prior criminal records with the police.
