Schools closed in 5 districts of Istanbul

Education has been suspended for one day in the Şile, Beykoz, Beşiktaş, Sarıyer, and Kağıthane districts of Istanbul.

The Istanbul Governor's Office announced that schools in the Sarıyer, Beykoz, Şile, Kağıthane, and Beşiktaş districts have been closed on Friday.The announcement was made by the Istanbul Governor's Office.

In the statement made by the Istanbul Governor's Office, it was stated that "In the districts of Sarıyer, Beykoz, Şile, Kağıthane, and Beşiktaş in Istanbul,in the districts; all public and private schools, public education centers, maturation institutes, private teaching courses, motor vehicle driver courses, various courses, special education and rehabilitation centers, support and training courses in public schools, and including supplementary coursesin private schools, all educationalinstitutions have suspendedface-to-faceeducation activities for one day on Friday, January 2, 2026,by the decision of the districtgovernorships.

Furthermore, in thesedistricts, public institution andorganization employeeswho are veterans, disabled veterans, individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, and female personnel with children under the age of 8will be consideredon administrative leave.

However, for those 'under the age of 8'The group of female personnel withsmall children; this does not include female personnelworking in the fields ofhealth, security,and snowremoval operations in ourunits.

Working mothers who have a disabledchild under the age of 8, regardless of their profession, willalso be considered on administrative leave on the specified date.

This decision does not cover universities, and said institutionswill make their ownthey are required to act in accordance with the decisions taken by the administrations.Due to the adverse weather conditions affecting our province, the teams of our relevant institutions continue towork on a 24-hour basis," the statement said.
