Seçil Erzan’s deleted messages recovered: Messages deleted on the day the scandal broke draw attention

Details from the examination of Seçil Erzan’s mobile phones have been included in a new expert report. The 200-page report also contains WhatsApp correspondence belonging to Erzan that was examined and recovered.

It was observed that Erzan deleted certain messages, particularly on April 6 and 7, 2023, when the incident began to break. In the recovered messages, she does not respond to many people who wrote to her. To others, she responds calmly as if nothing had happened.

Here are those deleted WhatsApp messages recovered by the expert...

"MA'AM, CALL ME URGENTLY"

Striking details are visible in the recovered messages of Seçil Erzan. Realizing that the incident was about to break, Seçil Erzan sent a message to Nilgün Arabacı, the caregiver looking after her mother, at around 10:51 AM on April 6, 2023, to leave the bank, saying, "Ma'am, call me urgently." In the recovered messages, Nilgün Arabacı sends a message at around 4:06 PM saying, "My dear, are you okay?" The fact that Seçil Erzan took emergency leave that day because her mother was unwell also emerges in her messaging with a person named Onur Yıldırım.

In a message Erzan sent to Onur Yıldırım on April 6, she says, "Mr. Onur, I have been at home for 2 days because of my mother. I will be at the branch tomorrow." Erzan tells Onur Yıldırım, who replied, "Get well soon. May God grant healing," that "I haven't been able to look at any work." One day later, on April 7, 2023, the day the incident broke, Onur Yıldırım says, "Around what time will the transaction be completed today? I will direct the relevant person to you accordingly." However, Erzan does not respond to this.

"TAKE CARE OF MY MOTHER"

Erzan, who left work on April 6 because her mother was sick, writes to Nazlı Can, who is a suspect in the file, "Talk to Ali about Bozcaada and the house. Go and take everything in the house, take care of my mother. I love you to the moon and back." Nazlı Can writes back, "What does this mean now?" Erzan says, "It's nothing."

The recovered messages also include those sent on the final day. Seçil Erzan, who did not come to the bank on Friday, April 7, 2023, responds to some of the messages that came in that day and does not respond to others.

Erzan messages a person registered as Mr. Nuri between 12:44 PM and 1:41 PM on April 7, 2023...

Mr. Nuri: Seçil, everything will be fine. Don't do anything wrong, you will pay the penalty for whatever was done, think about your mother.

Seçil Erzan: I am very sad.

Mr. Nuri: You will be a little sad, but there is nothing in life that cannot be fixed, this too shall pass, God willing, don't give up on yourself.

Seçil Erzan: I have no choice, Nuri. Everyone would drown me in a spoonful of water. Something very heavy and vile happened. I ruined myself, I made everyone miserable. People lost their savings because of me, I ended their lives.

SHE DOES NOT RESPOND TO AYHAN AKMAN

Among the messages sent and deleted on April 7, 2023, are messages from Ayhan Akman. Akman sends two messages at 4:22 PM: "I'm going to ask about this matter now, be aware" and "Are you not thinking of calling me?"

A person registered as Selim Geyin also says on April 7, 2023, "My dear Seçil, my friend definitely wants the money today, he is waiting for an answer." Upon receiving no response, he sends a message a day later: "I have become a beggar. Isn't it a pity for me? I couldn't even be happy that I have a grandchild."

Three deleted WhatsApp messages from one of the complainants, Emre Çolak, on April 7, 2023, were also recovered by the expert. Emre Çolak writes to Seçil Erzan, "Ms. Seçil, I am waiting, it is 2 o'clock." Then, Çolak, who says "Are you joking?", receives no response and finally sends a message saying, "Ms. Seçil."

"I AM CALLING THE HOCA NOW"

Among the recovered messages are two consecutive messages sent on April 7, 2023, by Volkan Bahçekapılı, the husband of Fatih Terim's daughter, Buse Terim. Bahçekapılı, who also gave Emre Belözoğlu's money to Seçil Erzan, writes, "What a lying woman you are" and "I am calling the Hoca now."

Cüneyt Demir is also one of the complainants who could not reach Seçil Erzan on April 7 and 8. In the messages where he writes "Sister," he continues with "When will you come?", "What did you do, don't let there be any mishap," and finally, "Sister, you ruined us, you gave so many promises, you said it was the word of the late Hayri brother."

On the same day, victim Ömer Kahraman also writes, "Seçil, is there any news? It's lunchtime?" "Seçil, I cannot reach you, it is 4 o'clock, the day is over, there is no news from you."

"YOU ARE MISSING AGAIN"

Among the recovered messages are those written by Musa Mert Çetin, the former translator for Galatasaray, registered as Gs Mert. It is seen that Çetin wrote intensively to Seçil Erzan on April 7, and no response was written to any of them.

Gs Mert: 1 is waiting, you know. Beware, if it's less, don't tire me out, I won't go to your house anyway, he won't take me in. The guy isn't picking up my calls. I'm already bored, whatever happens, let it happen, I have no credit left to stop him.

Gs Mert: Seço, I will come directly to you after I have my iftar.

Gs Mert: Seço, where are you, your phone is off??????

Gs Mert: How can you do this to us?

Gs Mert: What happened to your fear of God?

"DON'T STAND IN FRONT OF THE BANK, METİN"

Seçil Erzan, who did not respond to messages sent to her on April 7, 2023, the day the first complaint was made and the multi-million dollar fraud scandal began to break, was seen responding to some people. One of them is Hüseyin Eligül, registered as "Brother Hüseyin." Seçil Erzan tells Eligül, who asked, "Where should we wait?", "I will come to you, where are you?"

Metin Taş, another person she responded to, says to Seçil Erzan, "Good morning, Seçil, I'm going to Pelit and waiting for you." In a message Seçil Erzan sent an hour later, she says, "Don't stand around the bank, Metin."

HER CALMNESS DRAWS ATTENTION

On the day the incident broke, Seçil Erzan's calm responses to some complainants draw attention.

On April 7, 2023, complainant Pınar Güzel says to Seçil Erzan at 9:55 AM, "Seçil, if it doesn't happen today, I'm bedridden."

Erzan immediately responds calmly, "Okay, my dear." Two hours later, complainant Evrim Pınar Güzel messages, "My hands are shaking, this process has affected me very negatively in between. I feel like I'm going to fall sometimes." Seçil Erzan responds to this very calmly, "My dear." Three hours later, she says to Erzan, "My father said, 'Arrange your affairs at noon, my daughter, Seçil is waiting for us at 4:30.' I arranged the schedule. We will be there around 4:30." However, Güzel, who receives no response to this, says, "Will you answer meeee?" According to the schedule, Seçil Erzan gives Evrim Pınar Güzel an appointment at the bank. Güzel, who was heading to the bank on April 7, learns that Seçil Erzan did not come to the branch.

Güzel, who sent a message saying, "Seçil, where are you? You didn't come to the branch and you didn't mention this to us in the morning," calls by phone when she receives no response, but cannot reach Erzan.
