Seçil Erzan’s trial to be held today! Those names are also expected to attend the hearing

The 4th hearing of the trial of banker Seçil Erzan, who is accused of defrauding numerous people, including famous names from the sports world, of millions of dollars with the promise of a 'high-yield fund,' will be held today. In addition to the suspect Seçil Erzan, Arda Turan, Emre Belözoğlu, Selçuk İnan, and Fernando Muslera, who were summoned to testify as complainants, are expected to attend today's hearing. These famous names are expected to explain in this court how they were defrauded and how much money they lost.

3 CONSOLIDATED INDICTMENTS

In the 3 separate indictments prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and consolidated in the court where the case is being heard, it was requested that Erzan be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 76 to 249 years. It was requested that the other defendants be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 3 to 65 years.

FIRST HEARING LASTED 14 HOURS

The first hearing of the case, held at the Istanbul 41st High Criminal Court on November 20, 2023, lasted approximately 14 hours. In the first hearing, 7 defendants, including Seçil Erzan, presented their defenses. The statements of 11 people who claimed to have been defrauded by Erzan were taken as complainants. At the end of the first hearing, the court panel released the detained defendants Atilla Yörük and Nazlı Can, imposing a travel ban. It decided to continue the detention of Seçil Erzan and Ali Yörük.

SECOND HEARING LASTED TWO DAYS

The 2nd hearing, held on Friday, January 12, 2024, lasted 9 hours and 55 minutes. Seçil Erzan's statement was taken again. In her 4th statement, Erzan recounted the process that led her to prison in full detail. In this hearing, Erzan explained one by one from whom she took money, how, and how much. She explained in detail how she met the famous names and from whom she took money and under what name. Due to the fact that some complainants and witnesses could not be heard following Erzan's long testimony, the hearing was adjourned to Monday, January 15, 2024.

'I AM SORRY ON BEHALF OF THE VICTIMS'

The 3rd hearing, held on Monday, January 15, lasted 7 hours and 10 minutes. In this session, Seçil Erzan said, “When the trunk was opened, money was being grabbed. I see that Nazlı Can, who is closest to me, says, 'I don't know Fırat.' I ask for your help regarding my HTS matches, the records of the dates when the real victims were formed, and MASAK records for the sources of the money. It is necessary for the things I said to be proven. Everyone should tell the truth; if whoever took it says so, we will reveal the facts. I first told Semih Kaya about the fund. This money is not with me. I experienced a mental blackout. I was very scared. We took Emre Belözoğlu's money and 10 people shared it. I am very sorry on behalf of the real victims." In this session, Semih Kaya also explained what happened. The court panel decided to continue the detention of Seçil Erzan and Ali Yörük and adjourned the hearing.

THEY WILL BE BROUGHT BY FORCE IF THEY DO NOT COME

In the 4th hearing to be held today, Arda Turan, Emre Belözoğlu, Selçuk İnan, and Fernando Muslera, who claim to have been defrauded by Seçil Erzan, are expected to be heard as complainants. If Turan, Belözoğlu, İnan, and Muslera, who did not attend the 3 previous hearings, do not come to this hearing either, a warrant for their forced appearance will be issued. Çevik Çeviker, Selçuk Oğuztürk, Okan Turan, Nilgün Arabacı, and Hakan Kıran, for whom there are warrants for forced appearance, will be heard as witnesses at the hearing.

SIM CARD STILL COULD NOT BE EXAMINED

Following the 3rd hearing, a report regarding the expert examination of Erzan's other mobile phones was added to the file. While the report included some recovered deleted correspondence of Erzan, it was stated that the 2nd password submitted to the court regarding the SIM card, for which an incorrect password had been reported previously, was also incorrect and that the SIM card could not be examined.
