A new incident has been added to the attacks targeting institutions operating under the Koç Group in Diyarbakır. The chain of events, which began following a joke told by the holding's Honorary Chairman Rahmi Koç about Kurdish women that drew widespread public backlash, continued this morning with a second bank attack. The company buildings and branches targeted following the remarks, which caused public outrage in the city, have put security forces on alert.
POLICE LAUNCH LARGE-SCALE INVESTIGATION
Following the armed actions carried out against two separate Otokoç branches affiliated with the Koç Group in recent days, a Yapı Kredi Bank branch in the central Sur district was also targeted by gunfire yesterday. While the tension in the city had not yet subsided, news of a second attack on Yapı Kredi Bank arrived this morning. Two ATMs belonging to the bank, located in the Ofis neighborhood of the central Yenişehir district, were fired upon by unidentified person or persons. Upon hearing the gunshots, a large number of security forces were dispatched to the area. Police teams, who conducted a detailed investigation at the scene and collected shell casings, have launched a large-scale operation across the city to identify and apprehend the attackers.
