Second hearing in Ayşe Barım's case to be held tomorrow

Ayşe Barım was arrested on January 27 after being taken into custody on January 24. The first hearing of her case, in which she faces a prison sentence of 22 years and 6 months to 30 years, was held on July 7 at the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court. The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office includes the allegation that Barım directed artists to participate in the Gezi Park protests.
Many famous figures came to the Istanbul Courthouse to support Ayşe Barım during the first hearing. Artists such as Zeytin Tekindor, Serenay Sarıkaya, Birce Akalay, Halit Ergenç, and Ezgi Mola were among those who supported Barım. However, the court decided to continue Barım's detention.
The court panel had decided to issue a subpoena for witnesses including Enver Aysever, Halit Ergenç, Bergüzar Korel, and Mehmet Günsür to be brought to court by force. This decision, made in the courtroom, caused disappointment among the audience. It was particularly noted that some witnesses, such as Halit Ergenç and Bergüzar Korel, were already present at the courthouse.
