Second hearing in the Baby Sıla case to be held tomorrow
The second hearing in the case of 2-year-old Sıla Yeniçeri, who lost her life as a result of violence and sexual abuse in the Malkara district of Tekirdağ, will be held tomorrow.

The incident occurred on September 8, 2024, in Malkara. It is alleged that little Sıla, who was left with a neighbor by her mother, was severely injured as a result of violence and sexual abuse she was subjected to by the neighbor's children, G.K. and K.A. Sıla, who fought for her life for 30 days, passed away on October 7, 2024.
The first hearing of the case opened as part of the investigation was held on December 26, 2024, and the court adjourned the hearing to February 5, 2025. The defendants will present their defenses at the second hearing to be held tomorrow at the Tekirdağ 2nd High Criminal Court.
REQUESTED SENTENCES
In the prepared indictment, a prison sentence of 67 years was requested for the mother, Bakiye Yeniçeri (29), and 28 years and 6 months for the neighbor, Kani A. (32), while a total of 66 years of imprisonment was requested for G.K. (14) for the crimes of "qualified sexual abuse of a child" and "deprivation of liberty." For K.A. (13), a sentence of 48 years was requested for "qualified sexual abuse" and "deprivation of liberty," in addition to an aggravated life sentence for the crime of "intentional killing." Sanlı Ö. (57) is being tried on charges of "failure to report a crime."
SESSION WILL BE CLOSED
While it was observed that some defendants changed their previous statements during the first hearing, the court panel decided to continue the detention of mother Bakiye Yeniçeri, her boyfriend Sanlı Ö., and the children dragged into crime. Kani A. was released under judicial control conditions.
The second hearing of the case, which will take place tomorrow, will be held in a closed session.
