Second ship carrying Turkish citizens, TCG Sancaktar, arrives in Mersin

The TCG Sancaktar, a Turkish Naval Forces ship carrying approximately 378 Turkish citizens stranded in Lebanon due to Israel's ongoing attacks, has arrived at the Port of Mersin.

Turkish citizens evacuated from Lebanon have arrived at the Port of Mersin.

The TCG Bayraktar and TCG Sancaktar, ships belonging to the Naval Forces that carried out the evacuation of Turkish citizens from Lebanon, have docked at the Port of Mersin.

Following the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and coordinated by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and National Defense, two Naval Forces ships were sent to Lebanon yesterday to evacuate citizens wishing to leave due to Israeli attacks. The Naval Forces Command's amphibious ships, TCG Sancaktar and TCG Bayraktar, also delivered 300 tons of humanitarian aid to the region. Subsequently, Turkish citizens who requested evacuation were taken aboard the ships after undergoing necessary checks at the Port of Beirut.

The first of the ships to depart, the TCG Bayraktar, arrived at the Port of Mersin with 558 passengers. Following this, the TCG Sancaktar also reached the Port of Mersin with 378 passengers.

It was stated that a total of 966 passengers would be evacuated via the two ships, consisting of 878 Turkish citizens, 24 citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and 64 people who are first-degree relatives of these two groups.
