A dispute occurred between veteran Samet Gülüstan, who had come to Pamukkale University (PAÜ) Hospital with his family to visit a relative, and hospital security guards due to visiting hours.

During the argument, the security guards physically intervened against veteran Gülüstan, while police later separated veteran Gülüstan and the security guards.

The university administration launched an investigation into the incident and announced that the 4 security guards in question had been suspended from duty.

PAÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan stated that they strongly condemn the attack on the veteran, saying, "An investigation is being conducted regarding the person or persons involved in the incident, and the necessary legal proceedings have been initiated. The security guards in question have been suspended from their duties. We stand with our veteran."

Veteran Gülüstan explained that they had gone to the hospital to see his wife's grandfather, who was receiving treatment, and that he had asked the security for permission to enter because the visiting hour had passed.

Stating that the security guards did not allow entry despite him saying he was a university employee and a veteran, Gülüstan noted the following:

"Yesterday, our relatives came to the hospital because my wife's grandfather was unwell. After the visit, my wife and sister-in-law wanted to accompany the arriving visitors and go back to my grandfather's side. However, the security guard did not let my wife and sister-in-law inside. After my wife called me on the phone, I asked the security. However, the security said they could not let us in. I said that I was a staff member here and a veteran. Then two security guards came. While I was trying to take out my wallet, that is, while I was stating that I was a veteran and a university staff member, they started to pressure me there, saying, 'I don't care about your veteran status or your staff status.'"

Gülüstan explained that the security guards adopted a harsh attitude towards him, saying, "They tried to hit me, I reacted. When I reacted, this time he swung a punch at me. When he swung the punch, I ducked. Then, because they issued a 'white code' (emergency alert), the police started to arrive. The security guard hit me in the solar plexus, then the other security guard grabbed my throat and pinned me to the ground. Because I have a lung condition, I couldn't breathe. After pinning me to the ground, they started to beat me. They also insulted my veteran status. They trampled it and pinned me to the ground. It really saddened me that they did this to a veteran of the state. It is a humiliating, sad situation. It would have been better if it hadn't happened."

Gülüstan, who received a medical report for the assault, said he went to the police station and filed a complaint.

The scuffle between the security guards and Gülüstan was recorded by the hospital's security camera.
