Sela was recited from mosques across Turkey for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in Tehran, the capital of Iran.

In many mosques, the statement, "Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has been martyred by Zionist Israel. May Allah accept his martyrdom," was included.

Additionally, many social media users shared posts stating that in absentia funeral prayers for Haniyeh would be held in mosques.
