Selen Görgüzel-Emel Müftüoğlu file back on the agenda: Details of the case from 15 years ago

The statement given to the police by Selen Görgüzel, who was detained as part of a drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been added to the file. In her statement, Görgüzel explained details regarding photos taken on a private jet and a holiday in Cyprus.

Görgüzel made the following statements in her testimony:

“I confirm the photo with Rabia Karaca on the private jet. I boarded the plane after the Cyprus holiday. Emel Müftüoğlu sent me on this holiday. Since Emel Müftüoğlu took me on this holiday, she bought casino chips for gambling.”

“What I remember from this holiday is that Murat Gülibrahimoğlu and the girls with him went into a private room and continued to gamble.”

“I definitely did not use any prohibited substances on the plane, and I did not enter a closed room. I remember that Gülibrahimoğlu and the other girls entered that room.”

“I definitely did not encourage anyone to engage in prostitution. I did not act as an intermediary for prostitution either. On the contrary, I said to these young girls, ‘What are you doing here? Isn't it a shame that you are letting yourselves be used?’”

“Emel Müftüoğlu may have earned money through me, but I definitely did not receive any money from her.”

THE 2010 CASE RECALLED

The name Emel Müftüoğlu, mentioned in Görgüzel's statement, has brought the 2010 legal process between the two back to the agenda.

According to an article by Ali Eyüpoğlu, Selen Görgüzel, who was planned to star in the TV series “Zoraki Başkan” filmed for TRT in 2010, returned to Istanbul from Sinop, alleging that she had been subjected to sexual harassment and assault by producer Yunus Nihat Özcan and actor Ferdi Akarnur during the filming.

MÜFTÜOĞLU WAS NAMED AS A WITNESS

Görgüzel filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office and named Emel Müftüoğlu, who also starred in the same series, as a witness. However, it was reported that Emel Müftüoğlu said about Görgüzel in statements reflected in the public eye, “You are already an alcoholic, you are a loose woman.”

COURT DECISION

Following these statements, Selen Görgüzel filed a lawsuit against Emel Müftüoğlu, seeking 20 thousand liras in compensation and a prison sentence. As a result of the trial, the court ruled that Emel Müftüoğlu should pay 10 thousand liras in non-pecuniary damages to Selen Görgüzel.
