Selvi supports Soylu, criticizes Özel: 'He is one of the most successful ministers'

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi has criticized CHP leader Özgür Özel over his remarks regarding 'Soylu'.

Responding to the words spoken by CHP leader Özgür Özel at his party's group meeting, "In 2018, Süleyman Soylu, one of the most criminal and darkest ministers in the history of the Republic of Turkey, attacked the 700th protest of the Saturday Mothers with an unlawful order, dispersed that protest with the disproportionate force he had applied, and left the mothers, their children, and supporters there in misery. Since that date, as if it were an achievement, Galatasaray Square has been closed to the mothers, and they have arrested the mothers every week, released them in the evening, and the mothers have continued their passive resistance, going there every week. Süleyman Soylu did not give up, the mothers did not give up. Süleyman Soylu felt no shame, the mothers did not back down. It has come to this day," Selvi said the following in response to these words, defending former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu as "one of the most successful ministers":

“Özel made a speech targeting the previous Interior Minister, Süleyman Soylu, regarding the Saturday Mothers, when there was absolutely no need for it. He made very serious accusations. What does it mean to insult a former Minister and make demands of the current Minister? This is clearly an attempt to sow discord within the AK Party. Does this tone help the Saturday Mothers to protest in Taksim? Is the goal to eat grapes or to beat the vineyard owner? Furthermore, Süleyman Soylu is one of the most successful ministers in the Republic of Turkey in the fight against the PKK and DAESH.”
