Sentence handed down for Konya neighborhood headman who attended swinger parties

A verdict has been reached in the trial of Murat Mızırak, a neighborhood headman in Konya who was found to have sexually abused the daughter of the woman he lived with, and the mother, Meral A., who was alleged to have recorded those moments.

The process, which began with a criminal complaint filed with the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, alleged that Murat Mızırak, a headman in a neighborhood in the Selçuklu district, had sexually abused a girl named S.A. During the investigation, it was determined that S.A.'s parents were divorced and that her mother, Meral A., was living with Mızırak.

Following the criminal complaint, Mızırak and Meral A. were detained on February 18. Teams from the Cyber Crimes Branch found sexually explicit photos and videos taken with S.A. on Mızırak's confiscated phone.

THE MOTHER WAS TAKING THE IMAGES

The victim, S.A., stated in her testimony at the Child Monitoring Center that she was 17 years old and that Mızırak's abuse had continued intermittently for three years. However, S.A. stated that she did not wish to file a complaint against the headman. 

Meral A. also said that after meeting Mızırak, they began attending swinger parties and that she was unaware of the photos being taken. Headman Mızırak admitted to the accusations, stating that he had a relationship with S.A. and that the photos on his phone were taken by her mother. It was learned that Mızırak had also shared the images of the abuse with people attending the parties. 

SENTENCES ANNOUNCED

In its decision during the hearings, the Konya 3rd High Criminal Court sentenced Meral A. and Murat Mızırak to 30 years each for the crime of "qualified sexual abuse of a child" and 9 years, 4 months, and 15 days each for the crime of "using children in the production of content containing obscene images, text, or words." Additionally, Mızırak was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "obscenity." The court acquitted both defendants of the charge of "deprivation of liberty."
