The lifeless body of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21, 2024, in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district, was found in a sack in a creek bed on the 19th day of search efforts.

Salim Güran, the uncle who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment in the case regarding Narin's death, claimed he was innocent in a letter he wrote from prison.

Güran alleged that the person responsible for the murder was Nevzat Bahtiyar and claimed that the accusations against him and his family were slander.

"WE ARE NOT MURDERERS"

Starting his letter with the words "I am Salim Güran, writing as an uncle with a shattered heart," Güran stated that he was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment despite there being no concrete evidence against him.

Expressing that he is a father of seven, Güran used the phrases, "Narin was my life, my blood. They accused me of murdering my niece. We are innocent, we are not murderers."

THANKS FOR DEMİRTAŞ'S SUPPORT

In his letter, Güran stated that former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş had supported them.

Regarding Demirtaş, Güran included the following statements: "I received Mr. Selahattin Demirtaş's greetings. I am sending him many, many greetings from here. During this difficult process, when many people closed their ears, mouths, and eyes, he came out and shouted that we were being subjected to injustice."

"THE ONLY MURDERER IS NEVZAT BAHTİYAR"

Claiming that the sole perpetrator of the murder was Nevzat Bahtiyar, Güran alleged that he was at home on the day of the incident and that the testimonies of witnesses who confirmed this situation were not taken into consideration.

Arguing that phone records, expert reports, and pedometer data also prove his innocence, Güran said, "Read the file, go to the village, see the crime scene. The incident was committed in just 19 minutes. Despite this evidence, why does no one want to see the truth?"

The following statements were included in Güran's letter:

"I do not forgive the savage Nevzat Bahtiyar who murdered our girl, nor anyone who brought us to this state. I am also a father.

I am addressing the public: Those of you who make these accusations against me, are you capable of harming your own children? Are the slanders you cast upon us present in your own lives as well?

You made the savage Nevzat Bahtiyar, who changed his testimony 8 times, look like a poor soul. And those who still call that savage a 'poor soul'... My wish from God is that He makes him your neighbor.

Read the file, go to the village, see the crime scene. For God's sake, the incident was committed in just 19 minutes. What mind, what logic accepts this?

I had 7 witnesses at my home on the day of the incident. My children and my wife were at home. Their testimonies were not even taken into account."

"WE WANT JUSTICE"

Stating that they have been in prison for nearly two years, Salim Güran reiterated his demand for justice at the end of his letter.

While using the phrases, "Authorities, see it now, hear our voice. We are innocent, we are not murderers," Güran concluded his letter with the words "Justice! Justice! Justice!"
