Sentences handed down to those who attacked a lawyer at a tender in Sakarya: 'You will face the consequences'

Sakarya Bar Association member and Istanbul Bar Association lawyer Özden Özdemir, who attended a tender held at the Sapanca Courthouse on August 3, 2022, was attacked by the relatives of one of the participants during the process.
The verdict was announced at the hearing of the lawsuit filed as a result of the attack.
RIGGING A TENDER AND THREATS
The defendants H.T., H.T., İ.T., O.A., S.T., and S.T. were sentenced to a total of 10 years and 3 months in prison, with 5 years and 3 months for rigging a tender and 5 years for the crime of making threats.
The hearing was attended by Sakarya Bar Association President Attorney İlknur Ebiz Yıldız, Istanbul Bar Association Vice President Attorney Ali Gürbüz, members of the Bar Associations' Boards of Directors, and other lawyers.
The Sakarya Bar Association and the Istanbul Bar Association followed the case from beginning to end.

According to a report by Medyabar, Sakarya Bar Association President Attorney İlknur Ebiz Yıldız made a statement following today's verdict hearing. In her speech, Yıldız stated the following:
“We are simply doing our job. Violence against lawyers has increased significantly in recent times. We believe that the decisions made are very important in order to prevent this increase. In this sense, a historic decision was made today at the Sapanca Courthouse regarding an act committed against a colleague in our city. Of course, there are parts of the decision we do not like, and there are parts we will take to the appellate court. However, the fact that the sentence was established by moving away from the lower limit, that sentences were given for each crime, and that no reduction reasons were applied is very important to us.
On the other hand, we say this: the result of every action you take against lawyers while they are performing their duties is to be tried and sentenced in courthouses. You will face the consequences.”
