"Let me tell you how I met Woolsey, and you can laugh. Woolsey had gone to visit Galatasaray's facilities in Florya. He had retired by then and was heading a cyber energy company. We came together during that visit."

AHMET ÇAKAR REACTED

Former referee and sports commentator Ahmet Çakar reacted harshly to Korkmaz's statements on social media. Çakar alleged that the Galatasaray Sports Club had been stripped of its status as a sports club and was being used almost like an intelligence center.

In his post, Çakar said: "Is this also a lie? Hey Dursun Özbek! When US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director James Woolsey went to visit the Galatasaray facilities in Florya, he met and spoke with Sezgin Baran Korkmaz. Is Galatasaray a sports club or is it the CIA's intelligence station in Turkey? Shame on you, look at what you have turned the great Galatasaray into."
