Speaking during a visit by AKP deputies and officials, Arıkan said, "I am just as excited today as I was at the badge-pinning ceremony. I am very happy to have ended the 24-year longing in our Söke." These remarks by Arıkan drew a sharp reaction from CHP Aydın Deputy Süleyman Bülbül.
CHP's Bülbül reacted to the words of Söke Mayor Mustafa İberya Arıkan, who joined the AKP, saying, "I am very happy to have ended Söke's 24-year longing."
"THESE VOTES WERE NOT CAST FOR YOU AS AN AKP CANDIDATE"
Bülbül used the following expressions in a post on his social media account:
"Should I call him a Zübük, or a usurper of the national will, or someone who betrayed the will of the citizens of Söke? He is still talking. The person called Söke Mayor Mustafa İberya Arıkan said he ended a 24-year longing! What 24-year longing is this! A person should have some shame. How insolent! You took the massive number of votes cast for the CHP in Söke, usurped them, and transferred them to the AKP. You betrayed the votes of 39 thousand 258 Söke citizens cast for the national will. Shame on you. What deals did you make at the table to give away the clean votes received at the ballot box? These votes were not cast for you as an AKP candidate. Shame on you. You will be held accountable for these at the very next ballot box!"
