Sharp reaction from CHP to MP Salıcı's remarks: 'The product of a blinded ambition'
CHP Chairman Özel had previously stated regarding calls for the party to hold an extraordinary congress, "By all means, anyone who is confident should open the party bylaws and read them, and demand whatever they want. No one should demand such a congress from me." CHP's Salıcı had attacked these words by saying, "In the Republican People's Party, a congress is not a favor, it is a right." A reaction has come from the CHP to this move by Salıcı.

CHP İstanbul MP Oğuz Kaan Salıcı reacted sharply to Özel's words, stating, "In the Republican People's Party, a congress is not a favor, it is a right.
If necessary, the Republican People's Party will go to a congress. The Chairman himself became a candidate for the chairmanship after the general elections by putting forward the thesis of a shrinking base and stating that our party needed a congress.
Every chairman of the Republican People's Party is extremely respectable. On the other hand, as my esteemed fellow townsman and former Party Secretary General Kamil Kırıkoğlu said, 'he is not a sultan either,'" he said.
CHP DEPUTY CHAIRMAN REACTS
A sharp response to these words from CHP's Salıcı came from CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yücel. In his response via his social media account, Yücel used the following expressions:
For an MP who has held important positions in our party in the past to make unfair criticisms and accusations regarding the Chairman of the Republican People's Party and our party's political strategy during a TV broadcast is not only incompatible with party membership and responsibility, but to expect the CHP Chairman not to respond when asked about this by the press cannot be explained by reason or logic. Mr. Oğuz Kaan Salıcı, this situation can only be the product of pure arrogance and a blinded ambition.
We all witnessed that during the bylaws congress held just a few months ago, the podium was used freely regarding both the chairman and party management, as well as the party's strategy, and that the bylaws presented to the congress were accepted with full consensus, with the support of all 81 of our provincial chairmen and nearly all of our 1,325 congress delegates.
It is a known fact that during the 2-day closed parliamentary group meeting held just last weekend, nearly 60 MPs took the floor, and every issue was discussed and debated. Here, 18 of our friends, including you, made sharp criticisms, but 17 of our friends other than you emphasized the 'importance of unity and solidarity' in their speeches, and this situation pleased all members of our group.
At a time when our Esenyurt Mayor has been arrested through a political operation and a trustee has been appointed to our municipality, if going on television that night to discuss a congress and opening the Chairman and party management to debate is not a sign of a state of negligence, what is it?
Republican People's Party members, delegates, and administrators know very well what to discuss and when, and when to stand in unity.
The Chairman of the Republican People's Party represents the corporate identity of the party. Protecting the Chairman of the Republican People's Party is protecting the party. Developing an attitude contrary to this in such a political environment is never acceptable; you will be embarrassed before history and condemned in the conscience of the party.
Our party is a party that has achieved great success in the last elections, that claims to bring democracy, justice, economic prosperity, social peace, and tranquility to Turkey as the government in the first general election, and that became Turkey's 1st party after 47 years in the last local elections.
Everyone, especially someone who has held important positions in the past, should know that our party will not remain indifferent to anyone who engages in actions and rhetoric that will harm the party's corporate identity while chasing personal ambition and fortune.
While the tolerance and polite language shown by our Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel against your aggressive attitude and reckless statements are evident, do not drag our party further into this ugly and untimely agenda you are trying to initiate. We need to stand in unity and solidarity with our entire group, our administrators, and our members, to show solidarity, and to further strengthen our party, which is in the position of the 1st party, and bring it to power.
I invite you to reason, conscience, and the responsibility of being a party member.
REGARDS.
For an MP who has held important positions in our party in the past to make unfair criticisms and accusations regarding the Chairman of the Republican People's Party and our party's political strategy during a TV broadcast is not only incompatible with party membership and responsibility, but this situation...
