Sharp temperature drop and precipitation expected across the country this weekend

As the weekend approaches, updates regarding the weather forecast have been released. According to experts, temperatures nationwide will drop significantly, falling 6 to 10 degrees below seasonal norms. It is reported that nighttime temperatures, in particular, could drop to 1-2 degrees, and frost events may occur in some regions.

Meteorology expert Abdullah Macit stated that the cold air wave will continue to have an effect until Wednesday. Macit urged farmers and those involved in gardening to be cautious against the risk of potential agricultural frost. It was stated that precipitation will continue in periods across the country, with thunderstorms expected in the south and sleet possible in northern provinces during the morning hours.

It is noted that heavy precipitation is expected over the weekend in the southern and inner regions, particularly in the east of Central Anatolia, the inner parts of the Eastern Mediterranean, and the surroundings of Bitlis, Muş, and Van. Information was shared that locally heavy precipitation may occur on Sunday in the inner parts of the Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, the Central and Eastern Black Sea regions, and the south of Eastern Anatolia.

The current weather forecast for the three major cities has also been announced. It is expected that the weekend will be rainy in Istanbul, and it is noted that temperatures will drop to 6 to 7 degrees. In Ankara, it was reported that precipitation will be in the form of rain, and snow or sleet may be observed in higher areas on Sunday and Monday mornings. In İzmir, while there is a possibility of rain on Sunday, temperatures are expected to hover around 15 degrees.

Citizens, and especially those engaged in agricultural production, are advised to be prepared for the danger of frost as of the beginning of the week.
