Former Denizbank branch manager Seçil Erzan's fraud case, in which she collected money from figures in the football and business worlds under the name of the 'Fatih Terim Fund' with the promise of high returns, continues to remain on the agenda.

New details regarding the case in question continue to emerge every day.

SHE HAD SAID, "I DON'T WANT TO GIVE HIS NAME BECAUSE I AM AFRAID"

Seçil Erzan, who faces a potential 226-year prison sentence, had said in her testimony, "On a day I cannot remember the exact date of, I received money from someone in the Grand Bazaar, but because I am afraid of this person, I absolutely do not want to give his name at this time."

Halk TV reporter Dinçer Gökçe explained on a live broadcast that this person is Cüneyt Demir, who lives in the Çorlu district of Tekirdağ.

Dinçer Gökçe stated, "Cüneyt Demir is neither a complainant nor a defendant in the currently opened case. Actually, he is in the file. There are names in the file that the public knows, and there are names they do not know. Cüneyt Demir is one of them. According to the bank's inspection board report, Cüneyt Demir met with bank inspectors on April 11. He says he gave 150 thousand dollars to Seçil Erzan and that he gave this money for 15-20 days. He even says, 'On March 23, I went to Seçil Erzan's house and asked for my money. Seçil Erzan said there are some problems, I cannot give the money right now, but I will,' he says."

"HE HAS 11 CRIMINAL RECORDS AND 3 CASE FILES"

Stating that he spoke with both Demir and Erzan's lawyer, Gökçe said, "We researched who this person was. I confirmed that it was Cüneyt Demir. I also spoke with Seçil Erzan's lawyer, and he confirmed it too. Before coming to the broadcast, I also spoke with Cüneyt Demir. To find a clue as to why Erzan might have been afraid, I looked at Cüneyt Demir's criminal records and ongoing cases. Cüneyt Demir has 11 criminal records at the police station. There is a case for threats and insults in Tekirdağ in 2021, encouraging, mediating, or forcing prostitution in 2021 - the reason for this is the hotel he operates - and there is also a violation of the Industrial Property Law. However, subsequently, there is a fraud case opened in Antalya in 2017. He lives in Çorlu, but he said he also has files in Adana, Karaman, and even Kayseri and other places. He has 11 criminal records and 3 case files at the police station," he said.

Saying, "I asked Seçil Erzan's lawyer if there was a threat," Gökçe continued, "I was also present at the testimony. When the prosecutor asked about Cüneyt Demir, she didn't want to go into that topic much. The reason is this: the file is already crowded, there are many names she has to defend against. She didn't want to mention Cüneyt Demir at that stage. She had just been arrested at that time, she was in a state of shock, she was afraid of loan sharks, so she used such an expression. But Erzan said this twice, both in her testimony and in court."

"THERE IS NO REASON FOR HER TO BE AFRAID OF ME"

Describing his meeting with Cüneyt Demir, Gökçe said the following:

"I spoke with Cüneyt Demir. What he said is that he operates a few apartment buildings in Çorlu, and that these prostitution encouragement files are because of that. He said, 'I don't know who the people coming there are.' Regarding the fraud files, he said this: 'I was working at a firm. I took out 5-6 lines in my own name and gave them to this firm. However, these lines were used in fraud, and a file was opened against me.' Regarding Seçil Erzan, he said, 'There is no reason for her to be afraid of me. I know her family. There is no situation where harm will come to her from me. I don't understand why she said that.'"
