She had attempted suicide: Emre Aşık's ex-wife arrested

Yağmur Sarnıç, the ex-wife of footballer Emre Aşık, has been arrested on charges of 'harboring a criminal.' Sarnıç is also standing trial for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill her ex-husband.

Yağmur Sarnıç, the ex-wife of footballer Emre Aşık, was stopped during a routine identity check in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. It was discovered that Sarnıç was wanted by the Düzce Enforcement and Execution Bureau for the crime of 'harboring a criminal.'

According to a report by DHA, Sarnıç was taken into custody and referred to the courthouse following processing. Yağmur Sarnıç was arrested and sent to Bakırköy Women's Prison.

Yağmur Sarnıç had previously been tried on allegations of hiring a hitman to kill her ex-husband, Emre Aşık, and had been acquitted by the local court.

The case, which was sent to a higher court following an appeal by Emre Aşık, is ongoing. In 2020, a vehicle carrying Yağmur Sarnıç and Erdi Sungur, who was alleged to have been asked for help in killing Emre Aşık, was stopped by the gendarmerie in the village of Gülormanı, Düzce.

SHE HAD ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

According to the allegations, Erdi Sungur drove his vehicle toward the gendarmerie, injuring an officer before fleeing. Yağmur Sarnıç, who was later caught at the address where they were hiding, also injured a gendarme by striking him with handcuffs. Erdi Sungur and Yağmur Sarnıç had spent time in prison due to the sentences they received for this offense.

In recent months, Yağmur Sarnıç had stated in a video she recorded at home and shared on her social media account that she was going to commit suicide. Upon receiving a report, police teams arrived at Sarnıç's home and determined that she had attempted suicide by taking an overdose of antidepressant medication. Following initial intervention by medical teams at the scene, Sarnıç was taken to Beylikdüzü State Hospital as a precaution.
