She's an economics graduate! It turns out Minister Tekin's wife, who defends interviews, was 'appointed'

It has emerged that during the time Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin served as undersecretary, his wife, Ayşe Tekin, was 'appointed' as acting director of the Keçiören Public Education Center. Furthermore, it was revealed that Ayşe Tekin was 'appointed' as principal of the Satı Kadın Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in 2022 and that she is an economics graduate.

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's pre-election promise that "We will abolish interviews in the public sector" was shelved after the election.

Educators and unions, especially those waiting for appointments, had reacted to the situation.

'APPOINTED' AS ACTING DIRECTOR!

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, on the other hand, defended the interview process as a correct method during a television program he attended yesterday. 

However, it has emerged that Minister Tekin’s wife, Ayşe Tekin, was appointed as acting director of the Keçiören Public Education Center during the period when Yusuf Tekin was serving as undersecretary at the Ministry of National Education. 

NOT AN EDUCATOR, BUT AN ECONOMIST

Ayşe Tekin, who is an economics graduate, was appointed as principal of the Satı Kadın Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Etimesgut, Ankara, on September 26, 2022. 

On the school's website, Ayşe Tekin’s biography is described as follows: 

“She was born in Malatya in 1972. She completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Ankara. She graduated from the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics, in 1995. She completed her master's degree at the Gaziosmanpaşa University Institute of Social Sciences. She began her public service in Sivas in 1998. She served in various schools in Tokat and Ankara. She began her duty at our school on 26.09.2022 and continues to serve. She is married and a mother of three children.”
