She learned she was dead at the hospital where she went for treatment
In Balıkesir, a woman who was injured after falling down the stairs experienced a major shock during registration when she arrived at the hospital. The registration clerk stated that the young woman appeared as deceased in the records. Following the incident, hospital officials and relevant authorities launched an investigation to determine whether it was a system error or a case of mistaken identity.

23-year-old Fetiye Balgün, who lost her baby during childbirth in July, was injured after falling down the stairs at her home. When Balgün went to the Edremit State Hospital Emergency Department with her husband to seek treatment, she experienced the shock of her life while trying to register. The registration clerk told her that she appeared as deceased in the hospital records.
'HOW CAN I BE DEAD'
The young woman was shocked to learn she was listed as dead in the records. Describing what she went through, Fetiye Balgün said, “I fell down the stairs, hit my nose, and my nose swelled up. It even bruised, as you can see. Then, when I went to the hospital to get treated, I handed over my ID, and they entered my Turkish ID number and told me, 'You are dead, no transactions can be made for you.' My husband is a witness to this as well. I go there, how can I show up as dead? I lost my child a month and a half or two months ago. But instead of issuing a death certificate for my child, they are showing me as dead,” she said.
The young woman's husband, Görkem Balgün, described their experience as follows:
“I left work. After my wife called, I went straight home on my motorcycle. I saw blood everywhere. I took my wife to the hospital. When I entered the hospital and handed over her ID, they said, 'Transactions cannot be made for the deceased.' They made us wait there for an hour and a half and then sent us away.” The confusion, which occurred as a result of Fetiye Balgün being recorded as deceased instead of the child of the Balgün couple who lost their baby at a hospital in Balıkesir, was corrected following the couple's complaint.
