She learned the hard way that you don't joke with alcohol: A prank ruined her life
A young nurse was burned and injured in a fire caused by a colleague's prank while filling alcohol at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Hospital. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Hospital, in an incident that occurred three years ago, nurse Gizem Elif Türk and hospital staff member Yılmaz Yapıcı gave testimony in the case filed against nurse Önder E., who is accused of setting alcohol bottles on fire with a lighter in his hand, causing them to be injured. The trial against Önder E. continues with a request for up to 5 years in prison for the crime of "causing injury to more than one person by negligence." In her statement, Türk said, “In addition to the burns, I suffered great pain. If I were going to slander someone, I would have blamed Yılmaz as well. Only I know the pain I went through. I warned Erarslan, I said, ‘Brother, don’t do it.’ But he didn’t listen. I want the person who caused this suffering to face justice.”
TREATMENT LASTED 52 DAYS
In the incident that took place at the hospital on December 10, 2021, it is alleged that Önder E. asked Gizem Elif Türk and Yılmaz Yapıcı, who were performing an alcohol filling operation, “Is the alcohol pure or diluted?” and then lit his lighter, saying, “Shall I burn you?” As a result of the flames that erupted, Türk and Yapıcı were injured. Yılmaz Yapıcı received treatment at the hospital, while Gizem Elif Türk was treated at Kocaeli Derince Training and Research Hospital. Türk’s burn treatment lasted 52 days. A lawsuit was filed against Önder E. as part of the investigation.
At the hearing held at the 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance, the report from the Council of Forensic Medicine regarding Yılmaz Yapıcı was presented to the court. The report stated that the wounds on Yapıcı’s face had healed, there was no permanent scarring, and there was no functional impairment in his organs. However, Yapıcı’s lawyer requested a new report, stating that his client had suffered more damage.
During the hearing, nurse Gizem Elif Türk also reacted to the defense of the defendant’s lawyer, saying, “I am saying what I saw, am I lying?” The defendant’s lawyer, on the other hand, stated that the incident had not been clearly clarified and requested that the camera footage be examined and the cause of the fire be clarified. The court adjourned the hearing to a later date for the prosecutor to prepare their opinion.
