She stabbed her sister-in-law and burned her with boiling water: 'No criminal liability'
It was determined that the defendant, who stabbed her sister-in-law in Gaziosmanpaşa on August 4, 2022, while she was preparing tea and burned her by pouring boiling water over her, suffers from a mental illness.

In Gaziosmanpaşa, on August 4, 2022, she stabbed her sister-in-law Behice Çayıroğlu, whom she had visited to drink tea, from behind while she was preparing tea in the kitchen and burned her by pouring boiling water over her.
The verdict has been announced in the trial of the defendant Esma A.
NO CRIMINAL LIABILITY
The court stated that the defendant has no criminal liability and ordered her to be placed under protection and treatment in one of the high-security health institutions.
The defendant Esma A. attended the hearing held at the Istanbul High Criminal Court in recent days via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS).
Complainant Behice Çayıroğlu and the defendant's lawyer Fevzi Can Arslan were also present in the courtroom.
"I DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING"
Making her defense at the hearing, the defendant Esma A. stated that she did not accept the accusations against her and that she did not remember the day of the incident or anything related to it.
Complainant Behice Çayıroğlu stated that her complaint still continues.
CAUGHT HER FROM BEHIND
Explaining his opinion on the merits at the hearing, the Public Prosecutor explained that the defendant Esma A. was the sister-in-law of the complainant Çayıroğlu, that she went to the complainant's house on the day of the incident under the pretext of drinking tea, and that she caught her from behind while Çayıroğlu was preparing tea and peeling fruit in the kitchen. In the announced opinion, it was also stated that the defendant Esma A. stabbed the complainant Çayıroğlu multiple times in the body after catching her from behind and poured boiling water over Çayıroğlu.
MENTAL ILLNESS FOUND
In the opinion, it was stated that a report was received from the Samsun Mental and Nervous Diseases Hospital Health Board regarding the defendant, that according to the report, it was determined that the defendant has a mental illness, and for this reason, it was requested that a decision be made that there is no place for punishment for the defendant and that 'security measures specific to the mentally ill be applied'.
The defendant Esma A.'s lawyer, Fevzi Can Arslan, requested his client's acquittal, or if the court thought otherwise, that a decision be made in line with the opinion.
Asked for her final words, the defendant requested her acquittal.
Announcing its verdict, the court stated that although a lawsuit was filed against the defendant Esma A. for the crime of 'attempted murder against a woman with monstrous feelings or by causing suffering', according to the report received, the defendant has no criminal liability regarding the crime she committed.
The panel, which ruled that there was no place for punishment for the defendant Esma A., also decided that the defendant be placed under protection and treatment in one of the high-security health institutions by applying security measures specific to the mentally ill.
