Ship suffers mechanical failure in the Dardanelles
The engines of a fuel tanker traveling from Malta to Russia failed during its transit through the strait. The vessel was towed to a safe area accompanied by tugboats belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety.

A ship navigating through the Dardanelles was towed to a safe area and anchored after its engines suffered a failure.
The engines of the 185-meter-long fuel tanker named "Sundoro," which was flying the Malta flag and en route to Russia's Novorossiysk Port, failed while passing through the Dardanelles off Gocuk Burnu.
The ship's captain reported the situation to the Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services (VTS), and the "Kurtarma-15" and "Kurtarma-16" tugboats belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM) were dispatched to the area.
Additionally, the captains of other ships planning to use the strait were warned and informed via radio.
To address the mechanical failure, the ship was towed to the Şevketiye Anchorage Area with the assistance of tugboats and anchored.
