Speaking on Lider TV, journalist Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı horrified the public with his comments regarding Murat Ongun, the former Chairman of the Board of IMM Media A.Ş., who was arrested as part of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) operations. Kütahyalı's remarks, which contained indirect threats regarding Ongun's safety in prison, have drawn widespread backlash.

Murat Ongun, who was arrested within the scope of investigations conducted into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), became the target of journalist Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı while in prison. In a program he attended on Lider TV, Kütahyalı constructed an unthinkable scenario regarding Ongun's judicial process.

Kütahyalı highlighted two possibilities in his speech:

"Murat Ongun will either become a whistleblower, or I wouldn't be surprised if his body comes out of prison. The owner of Thodex died and that was it. If they say, 'Oh, Murat Ongun hanged himself inside,' I wouldn't be surprised."

REFERENCE TO SUSPICIOUS DEATH ALLEGATIONS

Kütahyalı's statements that Ongun's lifeless body could emerge from prison brought to mind previous allegations of suspicious deaths in political and major corruption investigations in Turkey.

This part of the speech was interpreted by the public as a chilling warning regarding a potential incident that could be staged as a "suicide."

In particular, the sentence "I wouldn't be surprised if they say he hanged himself" showed that Kütahyalı was expressing deep skepticism regarding the security risks faced by high-profile figures on trial in prison and the official statements presented to the public.

Kütahyalı's words were evaluated by some media and political circles as an "open threat" and an "attempt to interfere with the judicial process."
