In the incident that took place in Eyüpsultan on May 7, a foreign national student, Y.K. (17), shot and critically wounded school principal İbrahim Oktugan in his office, whom he held responsible for his expulsion from the private high school he attended and with whom he had a grudge due to a previous argument. Oktugan, who was rushed to the hospital, lost his life, while Y.K. was apprehended and taken into custody following the incident.
After completing his procedures at the police station, Y.K. was referred to the courthouse and was subsequently arrested by the duty magistrate on charges of 'premeditated murder of a person due to their public duty' and sent to prison.
