Mustafa Can Ekiciler, a CHP municipal council member in the Süleymanpaşa district of Tekirdağ, was attacked by 3 people on August 20.
The 31-year-old Ekiciler, who was seriously injured after being shot in the face, had been taken to the hospital.
Ekiciler, who was admitted to the intensive care unit at Namık Kemal University Research and Application Hospital, passed away during the night.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Ekiciler had stopped at a gas station in the Gaziköy neighborhood of the Süleymanpaşa district to refuel his vehicle when 3 people arrived in a taxi. An argument broke out between the group and Ekiciler for reasons yet unknown.
During the argument, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and opened fire on Mustafa Can Ekiciler. Ekiciler collapsed after being struck in the face by a bullet, and the 3 individuals fled in the taxi they had arrived in.
16-YEAR-OLD ATTACKER ARRESTED
The 16-year-old suspect, R.K., who shot the council member, was apprehended and, following processing at the gendarmerie, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
The other 2 individuals detained in connection with the incident were released under judicial control conditions.
