Barış Kurt, who was a fugitive in the investigation regarding Ayhan Bora Kaplan—the leader of the 'Kaplanlar' (Tigers) group who was detained in an operation at Ankara Esenboğa Airport and subsequently arrested on charges of "establishing an organization," "intentional injury," "extortion," "deprivation of liberty," and "torture," and who was alleged to be close to former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu—has been captured in Ankara.
According to a report by Asuman Aranca from T24, an operation was carried out by a special team established by the Ankara Police Department at the location where Barış Kurt was hiding.
Kurt's name appeared in the statements of Erkan Doğan, who claimed to have been tortured by Kaplan. Erkan Doğan, who alleged that he was tortured for 2 days by Kaplan's men because he demanded money owed to him by Kurt, whom he described as his former employer, recounted in his testimony that his teeth were pulled out by Kaplan with pliers.
Doğan stated that he later managed to escape from the house where he was being held, was taken to the Çankaya Police Station by officers, and that while he was there, a police chief approached him and threatened him not to file a complaint.
