Sinan Ateş's sister speaks out: She responds to threats

Selma Ateş, the sister of the assassinated former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş, shared a threatening message she received on social media and reacted sharply. Ateş, who was previously attacked in front of the courtroom, responded to the threats against them by saying, "You can do anything to us, we are used to it."

Former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş lost his life as a result of an assassination in Ankara on December 30, 2022. While many people were tried in the investigation conducted regarding the murder, some defendants were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, while others were acquitted. However, the decision of non-prosecution for all suspects in the second investigation conducted into the background of the murder drew public reaction.

Most recently, Sinan Ateş's sister, Selma Ateş, rebelled against what happened by sharing a threatening message she received on her social media account.

"YOU ARE USED TO SETTING AMBUSHES FOR US"

Selma Ateş exposed the threats directed at her via social media. While the message received included the phrase "We will eventually cross paths somewhere," Ateş responded to these words as follows:

"You don't need to cross paths, you set cowardly ambushes. Just like you did to Sinan Ateş, or you attack from behind, like you did to me... If that doesn't work, you team up with 3-5 drug dealers and block the road. We expect everything from you now. It's a pity, such a pity... You reminded us once again that we have never been on the same side as people like you."

SHE WAS ATTACKED IN FRONT OF THE COURTROOM

Selma Ateş was also attacked during the hearings of the Sinan Ateş murder case in recent months. During a break in the hearing held on October 2, 2024, a person approached Ateş saying, "What are you talking about?" and the attack was prevented at the last moment. Following the incident, Sinan Ateş's mother, Saniye Ateş, was hospitalized due to the shock she experienced.

In the trial process regarding the Sinan Ateş assassination, Doğukan Çep and Tolgahan Demirbaş, who were accused of instigating the murder, were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment. Defendants who aided were given prison sentences ranging from 15 to 18 years, while some defendants were acquitted.

However, the decision of non-prosecution for 17 people mentioned in the second investigation file increased suspicions about the background of the case. Criticisms have risen in public opinion that the Sinan Ateş murder has not been clarified in all its aspects and that the powers behind the hitmen have not been revealed.

KÜRŞAT METE, WHO THREATENED APOLAS LERMİ, HAD BEEN EXPOSED

On the other hand, while the threats against Selma Ateş were on the agenda, it was recalled that Kürşat Mete, who had previously targeted musician Apolas Lermi, was exposed in a similar way.

The concert of Apolas Lermi, who was scheduled to take the stage at the Kadırga Plateau Festivals in 2023, was canceled due to pressure. Lermi had announced that the name behind this process was Kürşat Mete. It turned out that Mete managed a social media account claiming to represent Trabzonspor and nationalist circles, but in fact, he had no official connection. It was stated that Mete was on duty in the Turkish Armed Forces and had been dismissed in the past due to inappropriate behavior from the MHP and various fan groups.
