Smoke rises from THY plane, passengers evacuated
Passengers were evacuated as a precaution in Nepal after smoke was spotted on a Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 passenger plane operating the Istanbul–Kathmandu flight following its landing. Initial investigations suggest the issue was caused by a technical fault in a hydraulic pipe.

Smoke rose from a Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 passenger plane operating the Istanbul–Kathmandu flight after it landed on the runway.
As the aircraft, flight number TK726 with registration TC-JNP, was taxiing, smoke was noticed rising from the landing gear, prompting air traffic control to intervene. Following the instructions of the teams, the aircraft's slide system was deployed, and passengers were evacuated as a precaution.

It was reported that the evacuation process was completed without incident and no injuries occurred. While a technical inspection of the aircraft has been initiated, an additional flight has been planned for the return journey.
THY SVP Media Relations Yahya Üstün made the following statement:
“Following the normal landing of our Airbus A330 type aircraft with registration TC-JNP, which performed the TK726 Istanbul–Kathmandu flight, smoke was observed in the landing gear while on the taxiway. In accordance with the instructions of the air traffic control teams, the slides were deployed as a precaution and passenger evacuation was carried out.
The evacuation process was completed successfully, and no injuries occurred. An additional flight has been planned for the return of the relevant service, and technical inspections of our aircraft have been initiated by our authorized teams. Initial investigations indicate that the smoke was caused by a technical fault in a hydraulic pipe.
