This year, the winter season arrived earlier than expected and began to take effect in various regions of Turkey. With the drop in air temperatures in provinces such as Erzincan, Sivas, Bursa, Giresun, Niğde, Kayseri, Bolu, and Ordu, snow fell on high altitudes and plateaus.

SNOWFALL IN GÜMÜŞHANE AND ERZİNCAN

Rain, which was effective in the Gümüşhane city center, turned into snow in the high altitudes. The 2,300-meter-high Silve Plateau in the Torul district was covered in snow, and a similar situation was observed in Erzincan. The snowfall that occurred at the Kızıldağ location on the Erzincan-Sivas highway caused the road to become slippery and led to traffic congestion.

SNOW IN HIGH ALTITUDES IN GİRESUN

In Giresun, the snowfall that started during the night hours covered the high altitudes in white. Rain was effective in the city center at first, then gave way to snow.

PLATEAUS IN ORDU COVERED

Snowfall was effective in the high altitudes of Ordu. The 2,000-meter-high Perşembe Plateau in the Aybastı district and the 1,500-meter-high Çambaşı Plateau in the Kabadüz district were covered in snow. Some citizens recorded the snowfall with their mobile phones. In the center of Ordu, rain was effective.

ERCİYES MOUNTAIN COVERED IN KAYSERİ

In Kayseri, the downpour in the city center turned into snowfall in the high altitudes. Snow depth reached up to 10 centimeters in the high-altitude regions of Erciyes Mountain. Ski centers in these regions were covered with a white blanket, offering suitable conditions for winter tourism.

HACIAĞAÇ PLATEAU IN SİNOP COVERED WITH A WHITE BLANKET

In Sinop, the rain that started in the morning hours at the 1,856-meter-high Hacıağaç Plateau gave way to snowfall. Hacıağaç Plateau, one of the highest points of Sinop, was covered in snow and turned into a white blanket.

Snowfall was effective in the high altitudes of Niğde. Four mountaineering students from Hacettepe University reported that they had lost their way due to a blizzard and requested help from the 112 Emergency Call Center. AFAD and Gendarmerie Search and Rescue teams created a safe route for the students and took precautions against the possibility of adverse weather conditions increasing in intensity.

SNOW AND FOG SEEN IN KASTAMONU

On Ilgaz Mountain, located on the Kastamonu-Çankırı border, snowfall and fog were effective after the air temperature dropped. While snow piles were seen on the summit of the mountain and at the ski centers, pine trees were covered with a white blanket. Citizens also recorded the snowfall and the beauty of nature.

FIRST SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON IN AMASYA AND TOKAT

Snowfall was also effective in the high altitudes of Amasya starting from the morning hours. Regions covered in snow on the Akdağ and Dereli plateaus were blanketed in white. In Tokat, snowfall began in the high altitudes of the Topçam Plateau and the Çamlıbel town as air temperatures dropped in the morning hours.
