Snowfall expected in 50 provinces: New warning from Meteorology

The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced that snowfall will be effective again in 50 cities as of Friday, January 9. In Turkey, where the southwesterly wind (lodos) has been dominant following last week's heavy snow, winter will make its presence felt once again.

The heavy snowfall that affected the country during the first week of the new year had given way to the influence of the southwesterly wind in the northern and western provinces over the weekend. Following the dry weather of recent days, citizens were wondering whether the snowfall would continue. The expected statement came from the General Directorate of Meteorology.

Officials reported that they expect snowfall to return to 50 provinces starting Friday, January 9, and stated that precautions should be taken, especially in regions where air temperatures will drop. It was stated that disruptions in transportation could occur due to the snowfall and that drivers should be careful. Furthermore, it was noted that the cold weather could negatively affect life, particularly in the eastern provinces.

Experts advise citizens not to take to the roads unless necessary and to follow additional warnings issued by the Meteorology department. While heavy snowfall and blizzards are expected, especially in high-altitude regions, a call was made to take precautions against heating issues.

During these days when the winter season will make itself felt again, institutions have also increased their measures in the field. Municipal teams will be ready for salting and snow-clearing operations in the provinces where snow is expected.

With the new week, the effect of snow will be felt again in many cities, and citizens are urged to be careful and prepared.
