Journalist İrfan Değirmenci and 41 others who were detained at an event organized by the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) in Kadıköy, Istanbul, have been released.
13 people had been referred to the judgeship with a request for judicial control, while 28 people were released following their statements to the prosecutor's office.
Following the detentions, Tanal had gone to the Vatan Police Headquarters to follow the process. He reacted to the fact that Değirmenci and the young people were detained with reverse handcuffs despite not resisting the police's 'disperse' warning, calling it 'unlawful'.
