Social media warning for Diyanet personnel

The meritocracy debates that emerged following appointments at the Presidency of Religious Affairs have continued with a "social media directive" sent to personnel. According to a report by Birgün, it was learned that a letter sent to agency employees in March warned against using the name "Diyanet" and the institution's logo on social media accounts.

OFFICIAL LETTER SENT TO PERSONNEL

According to information obtained from Diyanet sources, an official letter sent on behalf of the President of Religious Affairs, Safi Arpaguş, issued a "name and abbreviation warning." The letter, which was forwarded to all personnel, stated that names and abbreviations such as "Diyanet," "DİB," and "Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı" should not be used.

The letter also included the statement: "The word Diyanet cannot be used as a name, title, or brand by other institutions, organizations, or private and legal entities, except for the Presidency of Religious Affairs and foundations, institutions, and organizations authorized by the Presidency."

REACTION FROM PERSONNEL

Agency personnel reacted to the letter in question. Employees argued that the terms stated as prohibited in the letter appear on the social media accounts of both the current President of Religious Affairs, Safi Arpaguş, and former President Ali Erbaş.

The personnel commented, "Those who signed the letter on behalf of the president are unaware of what the president uses. The head of the institution should be the first to apply the rule and instruction, setting an example for the staff."

"DİB" TERM APPEARS ON ACCOUNTS

Agency employees claimed that the terms mentioned as prohibited in the warning letter are present on Safi Arpaguş's social media accounts. The employees stated, "The term 'DİB,' which is the abbreviation for the Presidency of Religious Affairs, is used on the social media accounts of Safi Arpaguş and former president Ali Erbaş."
