Soltamatiov, one of the planners of the church attack in Istanbul, captured
Viskhan Soltamatiov, a member of the terrorist organization ISIS who was one of the planners of the January 28, 2024, attack on the Santa Maria Italian Church in Istanbul and who provided the weapon used in the act, has been captured as a result of operations by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT).

According to information obtained from security sources, in a joint operation conducted by MİT and the General Directorate of Security against the terrorist organization ISIS, Viskhan Soltamatiov was captured in Istanbul. As a result of MİT's intelligence efforts, it was determined that Soltamatiov was operating in Turkey on behalf of the Khorasan Province, the ISIS branch in Afghanistan, and was among the planners of the January 28, 2024, attack on the Santa Maria Italian Church, having also provided the weapon used in the act.
