Some roads to be closed to traffic ahead of CHP's Saraçhane rally

Ahead of the CHP rally to be held on the anniversary of the cancellation of Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma, roads in central points of Istanbul will be closed to traffic; alternative routes for drivers have been announced.

The Republican People's Party (CHP) will hold the 99th installment of its "The Nation Protects Its Will" rally series this evening at Saraçhane Square, on the day marking the first anniversary of the cancellation of the university diploma of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu. The event will begin at 20:30.

While high attendance is expected for the gathering to be held in Istanbul's Fatih district, security and traffic arrangements will be on the agenda throughout the day.

Police teams have taken extensive measures around the event area and announced precautions that will affect vehicle traffic. Accordingly, various main arteries and connecting roads in and around Saraçhane will be specifically closed to traffic starting from 16:00.

ROADS TO BE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC

Fevzipaşa, Macar Kardeşler, and İtfaiye Streets,

15 Temmuz Şehitler and Gençtürk Streets,

Cemal Yener Tosyalı, Dede Efendi, and Şehzadebaşı Streets,

Vezneciler, 16 Mart Şehitleri, and the area around the Valens Aqueduct (Bozdoğan Kemeri),

Atatürk Boulevard, Darülfünun, and Gazi Mustafa Kemal Paşa Streets.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

For drivers who do not want to be affected by traffic congestion, the Police have recommended the following alternative routes:

Millet Street

Namık Kemal Street

Kennedy Coastal Road

Ragıp Gümüşpala Street
