A specially designed 5 Lira commemorative circulation coin has been prepared for the 36th NATO Leaders' Summit, which will be held at the Presidential Palace in Ankara on July 7-8, 2026.
The coin, minted by the General Directorate of the Mint and Stamp Printing House under the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, will be put into circulation to commemorate the summit.
SPECIAL DESIGN ON EXISTING 5 LIRA COIN
The commemorative coin was minted on the bimetallic 5 Lira coin currently in circulation.
The obverse of the coin features the NATO logo, the location and date of the summit, and a graphic image of the Presidential Palace. The reverse side retains the existing design of the 5 Lira coin currently in circulation.
TOTAL PRODUCTION OF 500,000 PLANNED
It is planned to produce an additional 400,000 of the commemorative coins, of which 100,000 were minted in the first batch, during the summit. Thus, the total production volume is expected to reach 500,000 units.
It was stated that the initiative was implemented to commemorate the hosting of the 36th NATO Leaders' Summit in Turkey and to ensure that the coin, which can be used in daily life, is put into circulation.
