Specialist Sergeant wounded in Pençe-Kilit region passes away

Transportation Specialist Sergeant Abdurrahman Hilal from Aksaray, who was critically injured in a military vehicle accident while on duty in the Pençe-Kilit Operation region, has passed away at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

In the incident that occurred on May 22, Specialist Sergeant Abdurrahman Hilal, serving under the Mountain and Commando Brigade Command, was injured in a military vehicle accident. After receiving initial intervention at the scene, Hilal was taken to the Hakkari State Hospital Emergency Department. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to the Ankara Gülhane Training and Research Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries after an 8-day struggle for his life, despite all efforts by doctors.

CEREMONY TO BE HELD IN AKSARAY

The Aksaray Governorship announced that the funeral of martyr Specialist Sergeant Abdurrahman Hilal will be laid to rest at the Aksaray Martyrs' Cemetery following a ceremony to be held at the Aksaray Grand Mosque after the noon prayer on Wednesday, July 1.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNORSHIP

In a statement issued by the Governorship, it was stated: "Transportation Specialist Sergeant Abdurrahman Hilal, registered to the population of Aksaray and serving under the Mountain and Commando Brigade Command, was injured on May 22, 2026, as a result of a military vehicle accident in the Pençe-Kilit Operation region. Our heroic soldier, who was taken under treatment at Hakkari State Hospital following initial intervention at the scene, was transferred to Ankara Gülhane Training and Research Hospital on June 23, 2026, for further examination and treatment. Our heroic Specialist Sergeant Abdurrahman Hilal, whose treatment was ongoing in Ankara, could not be saved despite all interventions by our physicians and passed away on June 30, 2026. The funeral of our dear martyr will be laid to rest at the Aksaray Martyrs' Cemetery following an official funeral ceremony to be held at the Aksaray Grand Mosque after the noon prayer on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. We wish God's mercy upon our heroic martyr and extend our condolences and patience to his grieving family, relatives, our Turkish Armed Forces, and our dear nation."
