Statement from Ahmet Ercan following the earthquakes in Hakkari!

Following the earthquakes that occurred in Hakkari, geophysicist Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan made a statement on his social media account.

AFAD reported that three consecutive earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.4, 3.5, and 4.5 occurred in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari.

According to the statement made by AFAD, the first earthquake occurred in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari at 19:37 with a magnitude of 4.4.

The second earthquake occurred in the Yüksekova district with a magnitude of 3.5 at a depth of 7 km. The third earthquake also occurred in the Yüksekova district with a magnitude of 4.5 at a depth of 2.52 km.

Following the earthquakes that caused short-term panic, geophysicist Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan made a statement on his social media account.

Ercan stated, "On the last day of the year, two earthquakes occurred in Hakkari on the Şemdinli-Yüksekova right-lateral strike-slip fault at 19:37 with a magnitude of M4.7 and at 20:06 with a magnitude of M4.6, at a focal depth of 5 km. I had previously announced that this region is pregnant to an earthquake around M7. There is a seismic gap here."
