Statement from Ali Şehirlioğlu regarding journalists facing arrest: 'The law is necessary for everyone'

Zafer Party Deputy Chairman Ali Şehirlioğlu spoke to 12punto regarding journalists Suat Toktaş, Kürşad Oğuz, and Barış Pehlivan, who were referred to court with a request for their arrest.

Evaluating the situation, Ali Şehirlioğlu said the following:

"Today is a bad day; in such cold weather, so many of us are waiting for a result, and we hope it will be positive. Because a few hours ago, two of our friends were released under judicial control; we hope this will also be the case for our friends at the courthouse, but we clearly see where the law has come to in Turkey right now!

We experienced something similar last week; as you know, my party chairman is being held unlawfully, unfortunately, behind bars on charges that cannot be substantiated, but we, as the Zafer Party, are standing tall. Our journalist friends have been by our side since the first day, and as the Zafer Party, we have a debt to the Turkish press, and we are here to fulfill this debt, we are here to support them!

I hope we encounter good results, but right now, the government is somehow using the law as its own weapon and stick; the law is necessary for everyone, everyone needs to know this..."
