Statement from Ali Yerlikaya regarding the axe-wielding attackers in Ankara

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has made a statement regarding the father and son who blocked a driver's path and attacked their vehicle with an axe in Ankara after the driver honked at them.

Terrifying moments occurred in Ankara's Keçiören district following a road rage dispute. A father and son, who blocked the path of a driver who had honked at them, attacked the car with an axe and smashed its windows. It was revealed that the axe-wielding attackers had numerous prior criminal records.

Following the footage that went viral on social media, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya also made a statement regarding the incident.

Minister Yerlikaya, who reported that the detained attackers were taken to the Keçiören District Police Department, announced that administrative fines were issued to the axe-wielding driver, V.K., under various articles of the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918. 


The attacker's driver's license was also temporarily suspended for psychotechnical evaluation due to offenses such as failing to carry a driver's license, failing to comply with traffic safety rules, obstructing the progress of other vehicles, and driving in a manner that disturbs public peace.

Yerlikaya stated that the attackers would be referred to the courthouse under custody for the crimes of "Threat and Property Damage" upon the instructions of the public prosecutor's office.
