Statement from CHP's Sezgin Tanrıkulu regarding the Narin Güran case

In the case of Narin Güran, who was brutally murdered in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district, 15 defendants, 6 of whom are in custody, are being tried on charges of harboring a criminal.

CHP Diyarbakır MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu made significant statements during the first hearing of this case.

Emphasizing that the case must conclude in a fair manner, Tanrıkulu said, "As a lawyer, a reasoned decision that satisfies me has not yet been written. Who Narin's killer is and why she was killed remains unclear. I call upon the judiciary to establish a fair verdict."

Stating that he has been following the incident since the beginning, Tanrıkulu remarked, "From the moment Narin went missing, I have not let go of this case as a citizen and a member of parliament. The Diyarbakır High Criminal Court issued a verdict, but this verdict did not reveal who the perpetrator was. Now, trials are continuing in the Criminal Court of First Instance on charges of harboring a criminal."

DETERMINATION OF THE TRUE PERPETRATOR IS AWAITED

Stating that the case must reach a conclusion that satisfies the public, Tanrıkulu said, "The first verdict is currently under appeal. Many new documents and reports are emerging, but what is important is that a decision is reached that eases the public conscience. I also have a debt of conscience to the public; who is the true perpetrator of this incident and why was Narin killed? The answers to these questions have not yet been provided."

Expressing his hope that the trial will develop in a way that reveals the true culprit and the motive behind the incident, Tanrıkulu stated, "I hope this trial ensures that the suspects being tried for harboring a criminal provide a statement that describes the true perpetrator and the reason for the incident."
