Statement from DEM Party on meeting with Öcalan! Has the date and the delegation to visit İmralı been determined?

A statement has come from the DEM Party, which applied to the Ministry of Justice to meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı Island. Referring to Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç's statement regarding a 'reasonable time,' DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan stated, "There is no finalized meeting or delegation yet."

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's call for "DEM Party-İmralı to meet" was followed by action from DEM Party Co-Chairs Tuncer Bakırhan and Tülay Hatimoğulları, who applied to the Ministry of Justice to meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.

While Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç stated regarding the DEM Party's application that "A response will be given within a reasonable time," a statement came from the DEM Party regarding the delegation that will go to İmralı and the date of the meeting.

DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan drew attention to Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç's "reasonable time" statement and used the expression, "There is no finalized meeting date or delegation yet."

Doğan's statements are as follows:

"In recent days, we have been closely following the reports, most of which are speculative, regarding who will go to İmralı Island, when they will go, and how these names will be determined by the Ministry of Justice, in relation to our co-chairs' application to meet with Mr. Öcalan. However, despite the expression 'reasonable time,' there is no finalized meeting date or delegation yet.

The İmralı-DEM Party contact must be carried out without delay. Regarding the names and proposals for those who will conduct this meeting, we attach importance to the decision to be taken jointly by the official interlocutors regarding Mr. Öcalan.

What is important for #DEMParti is the complete lifting of the isolation and the creation of the conditions emphasized in Mr. Öcalan's message for a democratic resolution process."
